The grant will allow Goleta Valley Beautiful to hire the California Conservation Corps to provide urban forestry training to about 10 people between the ages of 18 and 24The project will result in the planting and care of 271 native/Mediterranean trees of 16 different species on vacant planting sites within the City of Goleta, City of Santa Barbara (Airport), Goleta Union School District and Santa Barbara Secondary School District schools in the Goleta ValleyThe project also includes installation of root shields where required, watering and maintenance of trees at difficult to access sites till the end of the two year grant so that trees can become established

Goleta Valley residents can register with Goleta Valley Beautiful to determine if their parkway site (the unpaved area between the sidewalk and the curb) qualifies under local municipal ordinances as a street tree siteThe property owner will be asked to water and monitor the tree for the first two years of its establishment.  For more information, please contact Goleta Valley beautiful at 685-7910.
